PS3 Games Installation Complete Guide
This guide explains how to obtain your PlayStation 3 (PS3) games and then use your backups with RPCS3. This process is often referred to as dumping and includes different processes depending on the format your game is present. PS3 games are available in two formats:physical Blu-ray discs and digital PSN packages. For Blu-ray discs, dumping refers to decrypting the Blu-ray image and extracting all the files within whereas for PSN packages, it involves downloading the original game (.pkg) file and creating the necessary license (.rap) file.

Batocera is a custom Linux operating system that is focused on game emulation. It is completely self-contained and bootable from a variety of formats. This means you can load Batocera on a microSD card, flash drive, or external hard drive and boot it from there. As an example, you could use your Steam Deck primarily for PC games, and when you are ready to do some emulation, you can just add the Batocera SD card, boot into the card, and start playing games. This is an excellent setup if you want to separate your SteamOS PC gaming experience and your retro game emulation.
BIOS installation: To add the BIOS, you need to download the PS3 firmware update file and install it directly in the app. To do so, open up RPCS3 while in Desktop Mode, then select File > Install Firmware and find the PS3 file you downloaded. After you have installed it, you can delete the downloaded file. For more detailed instructions, check out the RPCS Quickstart guide.
One advantage of Batocera over the others is that it is completely self-contained and bootable from a variety of formats. This means you can load Batocera on a microSD card, flash drive, or external hard drive and boot it from there. As an example, you could use your Steam Deck primarily for PC games, and when you are ready to do some emulation, you can just add the Batocera SD card, boot into the card (see the video above for a demonstration), and start playing games. This is an excellent setup if you want to separate your SteamOS PC gaming experience and your retro game emulation.
Another advantage of Batocera is that it has comprehensive guides thanks to its long development history, and an active discord server for any more challenging issues. For a complete list of systems that you can run on Batocera, check out their systems table list. Note that as of making this guide, Yuzu (Switch) must be manually installed.
Note: If you've previously installed ScpToolkit on your system or ever used Sony's PSNow streaming service, you may have some leftover files that will interfere with DsHidMini. Check this troubleshooting guide (opens in new tab) for help on removing those files before you begin the installation process.
The Steam ROM Manager is a tool that is installed by the main EmuDeck installer. During installation, an icon is created on the desktop, which allows you to easily Generate a list of games that then becomes available in the Steam Collections tab. It is also used for downloading and managing the artwork associated with each game. Below are the steps on how to use the Steam ROM Manager to perform these actions:
Step 11: Once installation is complete you should see a large prompt that details installation directories and next steps. We recommend snapping a smartphone photo of this prompt for easy future reference.

You need either an XBOX 360 or PS3 copy of the game. You need to have the game files dumped. Here is a guide for getting PS3 game files. Here is a guide for getting XBOX game files. If you choose to download the game online (I understand people are price gouging right now), then that is your choice, but know that for legal reasons we obviously can't endorse or help you with this since it is piracy. We share user created content, NOT complete original game files. I highly recommend at least seeing if you can borrow a copy from someone to create a rip first. Once you create a disc backup, you do not need the game disc in your console ever again.

For example, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart uses ray tracing on Clank's metallic chassis, illuminating his shiny surface and accurately reflecting any nearby light sources. We also can see the effect in action in Gran Turismo 7, on both the helmets of drivers, the exterior of vehicles, and inside the cockpits of cars.
